Orthodontic Treatments
Interceptive Treatment
Interceptive treatment is limited early treatment. The goal of interceptive treatment is to do non-invasive treatment, which helps developing adult teeth erupt in a better position. Candidates are usually children ages 6-10. Treatment options may include habit appliances, space maintainers, or removal of primary teeth to guide the permanent teeth.
Early Treatment
Early treatment addresses problems with the mixed dentition (some baby & some adult teeth). In early treatment, our goal is to help set a functionally sound foundation for the rest of the adult teeth to erupt. Typical age range is age 8-12. Phase I may include palatal expanders, partial upper and lower braces, headgear, herbst or pendulum appliances.
Comprehensive Treatment
Comprehensive treatment is full upper and lower braces for patients with all permanent teeth. Standard orthodontic braces provide the most reliable and predictable method of treatment. Other treatment methods include Invisalign, Invisalign Teen, clear braces, and Insignia (computer-designed braces and wires). Some children are ready as early as 10 or 11 years old. Of course, adult patients of any age can benefit from orthodontic treatment.
