How do I know if the timing is right for an orthodontic evaluation?

If you observe something of concern in the way your child's teeth are erupting, the timing is right for an orthodontic consult. While your child may not be ready for treatment, it is often-times helpful to identify future problems and formulate a long-term plan for care. What should I expect at my new patient exam?

Dr. Fletcher will provide a complimentary comprehensive orthodontic exam. We'll explain our findings, review recommendations for treatment, and explain timing and cost. If treatment is indicated, we may suggest diagnostic records as the next step to planning treatment.

What does early treatment involve?

Early treatment is undertaken when a young patient has a mix of baby and permanent teeth. The goal is to help create a better foundation for erupting teeth, avoid having to extract adult teeth later or to help resolve a potentially negative situation which, left untreated, could lead to greater harm. Examples of early treatment could be a palatal expander when the mouth is simply too small to accommodate all the permanent teeth. When erupting teeth are in a position where they are vulnerable to injury we may suggest a few braces for a very short time to move them to a protected position (see "Is My Child a Candidate"). Early treatment does not guarantee that full braces will not be required when all the adult teeth have erupted.

What will braces cost?

The fee for treatment is determined once we are able to evaluate how long and how involved the treatment will be. Some cases may finish in 10-12 months, while others could take 24-30. The new patient evaluation is provided at no charge. At that time we can answer all your questions concerning time, difficulty, treatment options and financing.

What insurance carriers do you accept?

We accept all private insurance. We are a preferred provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Metlife, CNIC Health, Aetna & Delta Dental. If you have any questions, call us at 970-247-5874, or download our Insurance Request Form.

What about braces for adults?

You are never too old to have a smile you are proud of. You are also never too old to want a healthy mouth. We have treated patients in their 70’s who chose orthodontic treatment over risking losing their natural teeth. Schedule an orthodontic evaluation. Our belief is that the more information you have, the better able you are to make the right decision for a lifetime. We can introduce you to many options you may not have considered, such as Invisalign™ or Clarity™ Ceramic Braces.
